When Tattoos Meets Gin
Internationally renowned tattoo artist and ink poet Pietro Sedda was invited to design the bottle’s label. “I put on paper what I normally do on people’s skin”, he explains, with the nonchalance of someone who is used to turning the everyday into the surprising. His label for Tatau Gin is the story of a Victorian man adorned with marine-inspired tattoos who captures the look and essence of the gin.

Using a double-vapour infusion distillation process, Tatau Gin incorporates 12 botanicals with the addition of natural pigments: “The intense black of Sardinian squid ink blends with the blue hues of spirulina algae to create a spirit that is as much a pleasure for the eyes as it is for the palette. And the ears. Indeed, the etymology of tatau is a journey through time and space. It was actually an onomatopoeic sound,” explains Sedda, “which takes us all the way back to the Polynesian islands where tattooing began as a sacred ritual”.
Today, that primitive sound echoes in every sip of this distillate, a reminder that true art transcends time.
