Grappa embodies the essence of Italy’s territory and winemaking tradition. Made from marc, the residue of wine grapes after pressing, it is the legacy of a rural past where waste was seen as a precious resource. Authentic testimony of this tradition is the Distilleria Bonaventura Maschio.
The Mark Of Distilleria Bonaventura Maschio
Rooted in this heritage, and with a long history of challenges and perseverance, the Maschio family has left its mark on the production of spirits. On the Veneto plain, between the Piave and Tagliamento rivers, the Distilleria Bonaventura Maschio has been writing key pages in the history of distillation for over a century, starting in the town of Cismon del Grappa and reaching Gaiarine, in the Treviso area, where the company is still based.
Prime Uve, the Game-Changing Spirit
The turning point that changed the company’s face forever, however, came in the 1980s under the leadership of Italo Maschio, with the creation of the grape distillate Prime Uve, which led to using ripe, whole grapes as a raw material to overcome the limits of pomace, and developing a distillation method specifically for grapes, with discontinuous vacuum stills and steam heating to preserve the varietal aromas.
Bonaventura Maschio recounts the uniqueness of this product, whose beauty lies in its rich nuances and fragrances, attention to detail, and a focus on achieving elegance and smoothness. There are two versions: Prime Uve Bianche, with its refined taste and fruity, floral notes, and Prime Uve Nere, distinguished by its spicy, soft profile. Today, Anna and Andrea Maschio lead the company with a strong drive for innovation, continuing on the path of success and winning international awards. Prime Uve is synonymous with original taste and a fresh design that expresses Veneto’s terroir.
