East47 Opens in Singapore, Celebrating the Era of Cultural Avant-Garde

Singapore’s mixology scene is getting an exciting new addition with the opening of East47, the cocktail studio brought to you by the renowned Manhattan Bar. Set to officially open its doors on September 4, this intimate 12-seater bar brings together creativity and innovation in a way that pays tribute to the revolutionary energy and gatherings that defined the cultural avant-garde of the ’60s.

Nestled within the award-winning Manhattan Bar at the Conrad Singapore Orchard, East47 aims to be a haven for those who appreciate both exceptional drinks and food, offering a unique gastro-cocktail experience that pushes the boundaries of traditional pairings.

East47: A Homage to Andy Warhol

The debut menu at East47, titled “Volume 1: High Low,” is a tribute to the Pop Art movement and reflects the duality between high art and popular culture—an essential element of Andy Warhol’s legacy. In fact, the entire concept of the bar draws inspiration from Warhol’s Silver Factory, his art studio on East 47th Street in Manhattan, where he famously turned the ordinary into the extraordinary through his works.

The team at East47 consists of industry experts: Head Bartender Antonino Donato, who is joined by the newly appointed Assistant Bar Manager Riccardo Lugano, fresh from London’s Connaught Bar, and Chef Carolyn Or. Together, they have crafted a program that blends mixology with cuisine in bold, boundary-pushing ways, with each pairing serving as a nod to the world of art.

The First Drink List

East47’s debut menu features seven drinks and dishes, each directly inspired by the figures and artworks that shaped Warhol’s artistic universe. One standout is the Cosmo Marilyn, a creative spin on the classic Cosmopolitan that combines vodka, tequila, oolong tea, passion fruit, and pecan notes—a tribute to Warhol’s Marilyn Diptych. This cocktail is served with Chawanmushi, a delicate tea-infused egg custard topped with fresh Hokkaido sea urchin.

Another show-stopping pairing is Miss Brown, a sophisticated take on the Espresso Martini, dedicated to Tally Brown, served alongside Duck, a foie gras torchon glazed with sake balsamic and served on a brioche. The drink list continues with SBAAAAAM!!, a cocktail inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s comic book-style art, featuring bourbon infused with yogurt and popcorn, which is served with Wagyu, a hanger steak topped with Béarnaise sauce and pickled onions.

Guests can enjoy each cocktail and dish à la carte, or opt for a curated degustation experience that includes three food and cocktail pairings for $140 per person.

The Interiors of East47

The atmosphere at East47 is meticulously crafted by the Matthew Shang Design Office (MSDO), which has reinterpreted the spirit of Warhol’s Silver Factory with a modern luxury twist. Bar’s interior features silver foil-like wallpaper, curved steel details, and Venetian crystal lights by Barovier & Toso. Breuer chairs, midnight blue carpeting with silver velvet accents and artworks by Andy Warhol and Alana Dee Haynes add layers of elegance and sophistication to the space.

At the heart of the design is a true work of art: Warhol’s Gold Marilyn Monroe, which serves as a focal point, embodying the spirit of East47. The interplay of reflective materials and bold colors, combined with a black mirrored ceiling and a sleek steel bar, captures the essence of the golden era of Pop Art and fashion, making East47 a new hotspot that promises unforgettable sensory experiences.
