The Hotel Abi d’Oru in Porto Rotondo, the epitome of luxury hospitality in Sardinia, has unveiled two olfactory cocktails for the 2024 season. These innovative drinks draw inspiration from the hotel’s exclusive new fragrance, a captivating blend that embodies the spirit of Sardinia with notes of helichrysum, juniper, saffron, wood, and golden amber.
The Olfactory Project by Hotel Abi d’Oru
The Olfactory Journey at Abi d’Oru springs from the vision of Diana Zuncheddu, the heart and soul of this storied hotel. She sought to immerse guests in the authentic aroma of a Sardinian home. Teaming up with renowned perfumer Luca Maffei and olfactory expert Mariangela Rossi, they created a fragrance that weaves the tales and traditions of Sardinia into a harmonious blend of natural elements.
The New Scented Cocktails
Marcello Cabiddu, the bar manager at the hotel, has crafted two cocktails that perfectly capture the essence of the new fragrance: Sardinian Dubonnet and Profumo di Maestrale.
Inspired by Queen Elizabeth‘s favorite Dubonnet, the first cocktail is a sophisticated blend of gin, balsamic vermouth infused with Cannonau, and a dash of bitters, served within an aromatic bubble. The incorporation of Sardinian elements such as juniper and Cannonau vermouth creates a harmonious fusion of history and contemporary flavors.
Ideal for summer, the second cocktail evokes the refreshing sea breezes and wild scents of the island, providing a perfect, cooling respite from the heat. This alcohol-free delight combines citrus fruits, strawberry tree honey, saffron, and helichrysum soda.
Olfactory Dinners and Sensory Delights
Prepare to be enchanted by more than just luxury at this five-star haven in Porto Rotondo. The hotel presents a series of extraordinary culinary experiences designed to delight the senses. On June 8th, July 8th, and September 8th, Ristorante Marinella will host Olfactory Dinners, where guests will be treated to a secret menu crafted by Chef Nicola Cafagno, showcasing innovative dishes that celebrate the natural essence of the hotel’s exclusive fragrance.
Throughout the season, guests can also indulge in a fragrant signature dessert crafted by pastry chef Andrea Tortora and participate in sensory experiences like the Botanical Tour through the hotel’s park and a masterclass on creating olfactory cocktails.
